The all you can eat sensation continues to sweep the nation! Actually I will give them credit, they still make some good sushi despite this trend which I just don't care for. AND, they have a lot of sushi/rolls on the all you can eat menu option. It's solid sushi. Plenty of apps to, also included on the all you can eat menu! YAY!! I am really trying to embrace this fad. I think the Ai in St Chuck has fresher ingredients and more rolls. There is no shame here, just didn't really impress me like St Chuck or some of the other local spots.

Hands down, the best sushi place in St. Louis! This is our second visit, for the best spicy tuna you can find - anywhere. Seriously, I have eaten sushi in several countries (including Japan), and the United States, and Sushi AI's spicy tuna is the best. My favorites include: the Volcano Roll, Mountain Roll, and Michigan Roll. If you love sushi, you must give them a try. Oh, and they make it super fast!

The wife and I don't eat seafood, but this is directly across the street from home, so we thought we'd see what other Asian food they had. We tried the gyoza, and they were really good. The wife got beef fried rice, and I got the beef noodle. Serving size was very good, the beef was flavorful and lean, and the rice/noodles were very good. They were not busy at all, and our service was good. I don't see us becoming regulars as this is primarily a sushi place, but the other non seafood items we had were good enough to bring us back on occasion.

What an incredible value on really good sushi. For a dinner for 4 people including appetizer, dessert with a couple of drinks was under $80.00. This is almost unheard of for good sushi. This will be my new go-to sushi in St Louis!

Good sushi for a cheap price downtown. That's the short version. Longer version: All you can eat sushi for dinner is $19.99. The all-you-can-eat menu is not the full menu, but it covers probably 75-80%, just not some of the specialty rolls. I went with my fiancee and we had: edamame, crab rangoon, 5 rolls plus 6 pieces of sashimi. The crab rangoon, the St. Louis, and the Spider rolls were our favorites, but none were bad. I rate this 4 stars: 3 for food quality, 4 for service, and 5 for price.

I live and work downtown, so I was excited to see a new sushi bar open up. Sushi Ai is a classic sushi bar with 2 floors of seating for full service dining. I opted for takeout on my first venture in, and I was impressed by the quality of the sushi and the politeness of the staff. I highly recommend the Big Eel Roll, and the Bento boxes are great on their own. They just opened and are offering a lot of specials to create awareness, but I think they will stick around and become a downtown staple.

Absolutely enjoyed the meal. All you can eat lunch for 12.99 is hard to beat. You do get what you pay for. Ingredients aren't overwhelming, but like I said... It's 12.99! Be weary though, you do pay for what you don't eat. So order as you go. I recommend this place for sure!

Simply Delicious! Downtown Saint Louis has a new gem to add to it's crown with this fantastic new arrival to the late night restaurant scene. Presentation and superbly refreshing flavors are the highlights of this extremely affordable sushi bar. As visitors from Chicago, my wife and I enjoy trying local mom and pop restaurants and avoiding chains at all costs. After discovering most of the downtown Saint Louis restaurants closed near our hotel we decided to Yelp our way through the streets. Thanks to it's 4.5 Star rating we gave Sushi Ai a try and we're thankful we did! The restaurant atmosphere was modern nightclub on a budget decor with neon green back-lighting throughout. Abstract oil paintings lined the walls. The service was fast and efficient yet personal at the same time. The hostess was more than helpful in guiding my wife and I through the menu. Offering a $19.99 ALL YOU CAN EAT menu, this sushi bar is perfect for any hungry soul in need inexpensive relief from hunger pains. For those wanting to avoid the risk of over eating, I would suggest their signature specialty roll menu. There are no shortages of adventurous and traditional rolls to choose from. My personal favorite is the Yummy roll (kind of an everything and the kitchen sink type of roll), but for those mid-western sushi newbies out there, I recommend the Sexy Girl (Surf and turf! Fried shrimp tempura, spicy mayonnaise, avocado, white rice, wrapped in a thinly sliced scorched beef steak. Very savory with nothing raw). In short folks, if you love sushi, than Sushi Ai is the best bang, boom, and ka-zaam for your buck. I hope you'll enjoy this wonderful new restaurant as much as I did. Cheers and bon apetit!

Lets be real....When it comes all you can eat sushi for $12.99 you arent exactly expecting to have the best experience of your life. But sushi AI does a pretty good job of making it happen. As expected their rolls are light on the goods and heavy on the rice but the gyoza is suprisingly delicious and the spicy tuna is a delight. Most of the rolls rolls will be a disappointment to any true sushi snob, but if you want to stuff your face on a budget load up on st louis rolls and spicy tuna and go to town!

I got here on a Tuesday night. I wanted to go to an actual sushi place since my attempt days before at an asian restaurant didn't have sushi. I got here and it was pretty empty. One of the servers dashed to me to seat me. He also dashed upstairs to get my beer which was Sapporro. Talk about quick service. I ordered the red dragon roll, and sashimi: Salmon and white tuna. It was pretty good, no complaints. The place was pretty nice also, looked like a club with a mezzanine on top. Everyone was really nice there. Didn't rush me at all while they were closing.

After being disappointed with the selection in the Culinaria across the street, I stumbled into this place with my stomach growling for dinner. My tummy was very happy that I did. Pros: - All You Can Eat Special!!!: It's $20 for dinner but apparently only $12.50 for lunch. An great deal if you can eat more than two rolls of sushi and maybe some nigiri in one sitting. - Good sushi rice: Most people focus on the quality of the fish, which I thought was high given that St. Louis is located in the middle of the country, but I also pay attention to the rice. It should be fluffy, but firm and have the right amount of stickiness with just a little bit of sweetness. This rice passed the test, as I discovered with the first bite of my yummy tuna nigiri. Delicious. - They've got the basics down: Had a very good salmon skin hand roll - nice balance of fattiness of the salmon with the crunch of the pickled vegetables and, of course, the rice. The real winner was the spicy scallop roll. They diced the scallops slightly, so it was easy to eat (always hard to come by in sushi sometimes) and it had just the right amount of spicy. Enough to make me notice it was spicy, but not enough to kill me tongue. - Friendly Staff: I was sitting at the sushi bar by myself and I had an excellent conversation with my sushi chef. The hostess came over to check on how I liked my food several times. The experience was nice enough that I left a sizeable tip. Cons: - Overly Friendly Staff: Not really a con, but it's all that I've got. I liked them all, but I didn't need to be checked up on every other minute. Sometimes a girl just wants to sit, enjoy a beer and eat some good sushi in peace!

Ate here for dinner Christmas Eve, with fantastic results. Had a regular and a fried Philadelphia roll, a spider roll, Christmas roll, American roll, and some other roll we forgot. All were delicious, and served relatively fast for 6 rolls at once. The waiter was super attentive, coming over whenever I looked up for him. The two all-you-can-eat dinners of 6 rolls and mango mochi dessert and soda were all together about 50 bucks. They also have a card you can buy for 10-15$ that gives you 15% off forever, that we're seriously considering getting and making this place a regular haunt.

I was excited to try this restaurant from the yelp reviews and was a bit disappointed. I tried one of their specials. Most of their rolls are basic or fried. The rolls are VERY much catered to an American audience. I loved the American Dream roll. Unfortunately, the other roll I ordered I felt was all rice and barely any fish. The rolls were also uneven. That said, the sushi was decent and certainly not bad. You can get a LOT of sushi for the price offered. Service was also great.

If you like to have your Japanese food accompanied by Orange chicken, Chinese speaking staff, and country music, then this is the place for you. If you don't, well, at least the sushi is fresh, and the Bento boxes are filling. Prices are reasonable and the service is decent.

Came here for lunch on a business day. They have sushi and a buffet of Asian food. The buffet food was just okay and the service was friendly but they seemed a bit overwhelmed and the buffet ran out of a lot of foods and they were slow to replace them. The sushi looked pretty good but we did not try it.

Sushi Ai downtown is great. The food is spectacular and the prices are awesome. I got the 17.99 three rolls, 4 sushi pieces, and an app. Everything was great. AND it was two for one beers! It could not get any better. My fiance got the all you can eat for 19.99 and that was great as well. The dumplings are out of this world and I just loved the jalapeno roll.

We stopped in while we were downtown for dinner. The place is nice with two story seating. We tried the all you can eat sushi, I was very skeptical of the choice, but loved it! Very well priced and we have eaten here 2-3 times a week since they opened... That should tell up how good the food is. It's nothing like the fast food sushi crap sold down the street- best quality for sushi in the middle of the country. Presentation of sushi has been very nice and I can't say it enough very tasty!!! Sushi chefs are young but they def know what they are doing! So happy they have restaurants in ofallon and st Charles... We will still be able to get it when we move!

Unique kind of buffet. You order at the table, and they bring the food over. It's a limited menu, but there's plenty to choose from. It's a few appetizers and several rolls & sushi. You have to eat everything, anything you leave behind you'll have to pay for. The food is delicious and if you order from the menu very reasonably priced. The service excellent and the waiters are extremely nice and attentive. Great experience, if I'm every back in St. Louis, I'll be back!

This place was awesombawsom! My waitress was so sweet and nice and just made my first time here so pleasant. The price you can't beat if you love love sushi. The stl roll was good as well as the honey roll. It was a clean place and it was just really good for my first time. They have a lot of different things to choose from nice lunch specials so if you are in the area and in the mood for great sushi at a reasonable price. Go here!!! And they also put cute little decorations on your plate.

In from out of town and was looking for something close to the hotel. You cannot go wrong with the 19.99 all you can eat special. The service and decor were great. I was very impressed,and if I was here one more night I would go back for dinner again. You will not be disappointed. Plus, with not being a huge fan of buffet type sushi places in the first place, the fish was quite fresh and quite tasty. Certainly will return if back in St. Louis in the near future.

We went to Sushi Ai because it was close to our hotel and let me tell you the service was terrible! I have never experienced this in my life. We had a large group (about 11) and even called in advance to make sure they could accommodate. When we arrived there was only 2 or 3 small groups in the restaurant so they were not busy by any means. The male waiter was nice, but once we turned in our orders it took over an hour and a half to get our food. Some people were served their dinner before others ever got their appetizers. My sister noticed the female waitress switching tickets so her guests could get their meals before us and there were 2 parties of 6 that were served and left before we even got our meals. Then, our tickets were thrown away so the waiter didn't even know what to charge us afterwards. It took another hour to get our tickets and run our cards. In total, we spend over 3 hours at this place. Got there at 7:30, ordered by 7:45 and couldn't leave until 10:45. It completely ruined our plans for the rest of the night. My friend made a comment that she didn't leave a tip and she has NEVER not left a tip. Avoid this place! It was terrible!

Great service and the lunch special price can't be beat. $12.95 first person and $6.95 2nd for all u can eat. But u must eat what u order r u pay for unfinished food. Fair and reasonable. Only complaint is that in Alaska roll the piece of salmon was so tiny I could not find it without server pointing it out. So be aware when u order that the sashimi in rolls is a small portion. Atmosphere was great and I enjoyed the open space. Server was friendly and owner thanked everyone for coming in. We will be back.

After craving sushi for a few days, I finally ventured out to try one of the many sushi places in downtown St. Louis. The result? Sushi Ai was okay. Not the best I've ever had, not the worst. It's one of those places that's definitely at the average or slightly above. The spicy tuna roll wasn't as spicy as I would have liked, but the sushi was fresh and reasonanly priced.

PLS AVOID THIS PLACE at all cost! The owner & server were VERY RUDE & the lady at the counter greeted us with such an unpleasant attitude! While we were enjoying our sushi, our server came several times just to tell us "My Boss said you have to finish off your sushi or else you have to pay for it!" Come on, I mean if it was just once, it was still tolerable (We were a bit offended, plus OF COURSE we were VERY FAMILIAR with the All-u-can-eat sushi rule) but she came to our table SO MANY TIMES just to remind us what the Boss said! Being a big fan of Sushi, we have been to numerous Japanese restaurants all over US & around the world but this was the first time we encountered such rude & cheapskate restaurant owner! When the check came, our server OVERCHARGED us extra $20! Earlier when our group arrived, we were told that we would be getting the 'buy 1 all-u-can eat sushi, get 50% off for the second person'. When we informed the server about the overcharged amount, we were shocked when she told us that she was aware of the mistake she had made but she wasn't sure how to fix it! We insisted that we should be getting $20 off & she finally made the adjustment. No apologies given. We will NEVER come back here ever again! Definitely NOT worth doing business with these cheapskate people at Sushi Ai. We would rather splurge at some other Japanese places which have excellent customer service and ALSO, with better quality & fresh sushi.

I stop by here once or twice a month for the sushi roll lunch special (2 rolls for $8) to go. Never had a bad experience there food-wise, spicy tuna and salmon rolls are my favorites and what I usually get. Always get fast service when I'm there, though I'm also usually there after the downtown lunch rush is back at work so that might have something to do with it.

I had their lunch special (2 rolls for $7.99) to go. Food was ready to go quickly and staff was friendly. The inner decor is a little funky but nothing terrible. The rolls were fresh and tasted great. Definitely a great deal for the price. I'm looking forward to going back again soon with friends to try the buffet version.

Came to Sushi Ai encouraged by the reviews of the lunch all-you-can-eat. Found the selection on the menu for AYCE to be great, and the rolls came out nicely and neatly presented. Service up through the food was good. However, when the bill came, rather than being charged the $12.99 lunch price for our meal at noon, we were charged dinner $19.99! Given there were three of us, the difference of $21 was substantial, and also quite frankly given the level of hunger we had completely unnecessary. Had we known, we could've easily ordered a la carte for less. We asked our server about it, who informed us that because it was Labor day they were charging dinner prices (for lunch). Well that's a nice surprise...Given we had no idea, we were upset. When it was clear we were not getting anywhere discussing this, he brought over his manager, who likewise informed us summarily that it was dinner price today. We reiterated we were not told that upon ordering, at which point our server lied and claimed he had said 'dinner.' In any event, they were kind enough to comp us the equivalent of the tax ($2*). Seriously. In an empty restaurant, downtown, for a Monday lunch, with first time patrons I expected better. *assuming the linked website in Yelp covers this location (it is not listed), this 10% discount is standard anyway.

Unfortunately my 2 star rating is exclusively the result of poor customer service. I had just moved to STL and came across Sushi Ai and their $12 lunch buffet. Such a great deal! I went with a group on Labor day and even though we weren't all that hungry, went with the buffet so we could get a variety and try some appetizers. Food was served quickly and was quite good. But when the bill came I was shocked to see that the entire group was charged the $19.99 dinner buffet price. Confused as to why we were charged a dinner price when we were in the restaurant right at noon, the waiter only offered the explanation that since it was Labor day there was no lunch buffet only dinner (umm perhaps then take down the sign on the door advertising a $12.99 lunch buffet?). Now personally I think jacking up your prices because it's a holiday and still offering the same product, is pretty shady, but not even telling people that's what you're doing?! Eventually we talked to the manager, who again thought the fact that it was Labor day was a justifiable excuse as to why everyone was being charged $7 more per person. We were all kind of stunned that they just thought we should all be good with that. Finally the manager offered to take 10% off, so basically tax, and that we should be satisfied. Since we clearly weren't getting anywhere, we just paid and left. It's not as though we were refusing to pay or anything, we just wanted to pay the advertised lunch rate when we ate lunch.

I had the all you can eat lunch for 12.99. It's not worth it . The food is so so. The fish on the sushi was cut almost paper thin. But the place is popular and busy that if you don't order everything you think you could possibly eat at once in the beginning, you'd have to wait for a long time for the items you order later. The service is not great. I waited for my waitress to pay for a long time and finally the lady at the front counter took my credit card and rang the ticket. When I left the restaurant, my waitress ran outside after me saying I did not pay. They seemed to be overwhelmed and unorganized.

I'm really glad I live downtown so this place is within walking distance. It's absolutely delicious sushi, and the $17.99 deal (3 rolls, 4 nigiri, 1 appetizer) is totally a perfect dinner for two. I've been here twice and was completely satisfied with my meal and impressed with the friendliness of the staff. Free Wi-Fi is also a plus, and when I went a couple of days ago the password is "lovesushi". I hope to do the all you can eat sushi deal soon, and I will review that too when i get the chance.:)

I rarely write critical reviews, except when I feel strongly about it. Most of the reviews reflect the $17.99 all you can deal, if that's what you're looking for, it's one of the better deals in town. However, if you're looking for good sushi, try somewhere else. The sushi at grocery stores are even better than the ones here. The rolls were unremarkable and the prices were average. The shocking part of the dinner was when I asked for hot sake, and the waitress brought a room temperature bottle to our table and asked if I would like to have it microwaved! It's already hard to find good sushi in STL and the quality of the sushi at Sushi A! is certainly bottom of the barrel.

Alright so In the Lou for a few weeks on a client. We decided that we wanted to grab sushi and it is hard to find some authentic Japanese/Asian food. With that said Sushi Ai does a good job at trying to fill that gap. We decided to come here as it was within walking distance to the stadium before a game. We walk over to this joint and the interior is decorated in a sleek almost night club like décor. It is dimly lit and very spacious. The sushi bar is in the center of the room which was interesting as I had never seen that before. The servers were very friendly and even joked along with our table as were relatively loud. We ordered roughly 8 rolls or so and they were all solid. We also ordered a few nigiri rolls and they were solid as well. The rolls itself were the standard variety of rolls and although the rice ratio was a bit high, I appreciated that the sauces were not overdone to just make it a glob of a roll. The nigiri was also very solid and tasted fresh which I appreciated but they did not have a huge variety. They also have an all you can eat Lunch and Dinner special which is the basic rolls. I did not order any of these because they were items I would not typically ordered so no comments on that menu but seemed like a good deal. So I struggled with making this a 3 or a 4 star rating because I would say that if this joint was located in Cali, it would easily be a 3 but being that this is in downtown STL and in my opinion better than Wasabi based on service, price, and quality of food, I decided to go with a 4 star rating.

The gals wanted to do sushi for lunch at work and despite my recent mehness about sushi i decided to tag along. Let's get the bad out of the way first. The service was S-L-O-W. They were really busy and sat us upstairs with one other table. Our secluded location may of been why we didn't see our waitress often, and she never brought us the fork we asked for nor came to collect our payment after she brought our bill. Normally i would not even stress about slow service but it was weekday lunch and we needed to get back to the office! Hopefully this was just a fluke and certainly would not stop me from going back. The rest of lunch was great. They have a fantastic all you can eat deal for lunch and dinner. Even if you don't intend on eating 10 courses 12.99 (its more expensive for dinner) was a very fair price tag. The all you can eat menu is a limited subset of their rolls and apps but its a very nice variety of different types of rolls and such. Since i was not keen on sushi that day I went for the Bento box which was around $7. It was a fair amount of food and got me full enough. My only complaint would be that its carb heavy and didn't have enough protein - but that is what a bento box is so I really should not fault them for this. If you work downtown hit up Sushi Ai for lunch, just make sure you have time so you won't be rushing back to the office for a meeting! I'm thinking I didn't catch em with their best people or something. What's all the hype? Did I miss the secret menu? Service was friendly, sure. 12.99 all you can eat lunch is always nice. But the sushi was poorly made with little fish, too much rice, and too much vinegar in that rice, turning what I usually find to be an enjoyable contest against my own body's capacity into a sad day for my digestive system. I think it's most fair that I compare this place to other Sushi Ai s. This one has less chance of running out of fish, less of a crowd, a dimly lit atmosphere with some interesting art, a salad bar, and faster turnaround time than the Maryland Hts one. But the all you can eat menu is considerably smaller, and they don't keep the drinks coming even at slower times of the day. Even from where I'm living, it's worth the extra drive to hit up the St Charles version.

I have been here about three times because I guess I wanted to check this place out more before reviewing it. My friends and I usually do the all you can eat meal. Regarding the all you can eat meal, the deal is good in a sense but I feel like they do not want people to take advantage of the all you can eat. It took about half an hour intervals before they give us the sushi. I have been noticing this because I see the finished sushi placed on the countertop waiting to be delivered. Our waiter does not deliver it right away. I SEE IT RIGHT THERE. Also regarding the dumplings, sometimes they come out cold...the tips of the dumplings are cold and usually when we order a certain amount of appetizers, they only give us some and "forget" about the other orders until we remind them. I find that very disrespectful and it happened all three times I came. The rice on the rolls can be really cold sometimes. I dont think I will be coming here ever again. Also everything is deep fried and battered and that is so annoying.

What a great experience, overall! We were a little put off by the entrance (it still looks like Jade, the club/bar that used to be there), but inside, we were pleasantly surprised. It's HUGE but still manages to feel like a dining experience. The lighting is dim, but updated and decorative. The all you can eat sushi made me think "sushi bar" where the food had been sitting out all day, but it wasn't like that at all! You order what you want, they bring it, you order more if you want more...as easy as that! The sushi was fresh and very well made. I have to admit, though, that my favorite part was the apps. We had dumplings that were TO DIE FOR! Seriously- get them. The crab rangoon was excellent, as was the shrimp shumai. My boyfriend got the Miso soup too, and said it was good. The salad bar was small, but very clean, and had just the right amount of stuff, with GREAT dressings (a bit on the avant guarde side)! And then there's the staff. SUPER friendly, very knowledgeable, and right there when you need them, every time. I'm very impressed. If you get a chance to go to this place, do it.

I really like this place because it is so cheap! They offer many deals such as eat all you can for $19.99 per person and 2 rolls for $7.99 during lunch. We got the 1 appetizer, 4 nigiris and 3 rolls for $17.99 which is a truly incredible deal. The service is also outstanding, server was very present although a little hard to understand at times. By the end of our meal, the manager came by and talked to us which is a great touch because that tells how they appreciate the customers! The crab rangoon is really good, I wish we ordered more because it was real quality, it actually had crab in it and not just tons of cream cheese. As for the rolls, we got the Crazy Spicy Crab Roll, Volcano Roll, Fried Saint Louis Roll and also got some California Rolls. The best ones were the Crazy Spicy Crab Roll and Fried Saint Louis Roll! They were so good! The California Roll was just okay but the Volcano Roll was meh. The portions of the rolls were great but I would have to say that maybe the chef is not as experienced as others because the sushi rolls were falling apart so quickly, it needs to be tighter so that when I dip it in soy it doesn't disintegrate! The rice may also be a little too sticky because it was super sticking to the plate thus adding to the problem of the falling apart sushi roll. Those aren't big issues though because for the overall price and taste it is not comparable to other sushi places. I will warn you guys though to not get the nigiris. On the menu they just call it sushi but you know they are the nigiri sushi so whatevs. I tried the egg, crab meat, yellowtail and squid. The egg was okay, I've had better and I'm a little more critical of it because it's my favorite nigiri. The crab meat was okay, it's the imitation type, the squid and yellowtail were pretty disgusting because they weren't super fresh or quality seafood. I was also surprised with how tiny the nigiris were. Hmm. Just go here for the apps and rolls, is all I can say. Btw, the leftovers were still pretty good.

For months before this place opened up the windows had banners advertising cheap, all you can eat sushi "coming soon". Right off the top I wasn't sure what to make of it. Cheap Sushi? Good. All you can eat? Scary? And with this being downtown, was it actually ever going to open? Well they finally opened their doors about a month (or so) ago, and I knew I was eventually going to have to give it a try. Fortunately for Sushi Ai, I just came off yet another unremarkable lunch from a fast-sushi chain right down the street. Honestly, I was willing to give anything a try. All I can say is "wow". I am quite happy I tried Sushi Ai. For $12.95 they offer an all-you-can-eat lunch special that is really pretty good. The selection is standard-fare, but it's made well and the ingredients taste good. I'll admit, I am *NOT* a sushi expert, but there are a couple of things I look for in Sushi: 1) Can you find the fish in the roll? 2) Is there more fish (or whatever filling you're actually interested in) than rice? 3) For Nigiri-Sushi is the fish flavorful? Sushi Ai meets all of the above criteria without trouble. I sat at the bar and ordered 2 rolls, and 4 pieces of nigiri-sushi. Was it the rock-bottom best price i've paid for what I ordered? Probably not. But it was most definitely the best value. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. The sushi chefs gladly spoke with me and even offered some good suggestions on what I might like next. The fish itself tasted quite good as well. All-in-all, they are a very solid 5 stars.

The only reason that I am rating this 4 stars and not 5 is because the space just opened and is a little unfurnished/cold. It used to be a club called Jade, so I expected a DJ and loads of people but were greeted by neither. LOL. I almost think the space is TOO big for an intimate experience which I tend to associate with sushi, but if they keep their prices reasonable, I could see this place getting packed over the next couple months when businessmen and women hear about it! The sushi they serve is good and authentic, and I even noticed a modern flair- there isn't anything extreme though/blending of unexpected ingredients, which I always hope for at a sushi restaurant. But, I think playing it safe is the right way to go at the moment. The american dream roll is as good at this location as it is at the Maryland heights location. The nigri is wonderful, and they don't overload you on rice (even if you do get the amazing $20 all you can eat dinner). Yes, $20 all you can eat dinner. I generally don't enjoy eating until I explode, but I was able to get down a good 4 rolls down +6 pieces of nigiri- that could have easily been $40 dinner. They offer students a 15% discount as well. all in all, not a place to take a girl on a first date, but if you've known your significant other for a while and are comfortable stuffing your face in front of each other, come here!!

This place is fantastic, especially for the price. I usually go for the lunch buffet. My only complaint: the seaweed wraps (whatever the technical term is) that is in the sushi rolls is ALWAYS dry, to the point that you cannot hardly chew through it. But for thirteen bucks, I don't really care. Good stuff, and just a few blocks away.

I go here often, so my 3 star review might be a bit harsh, but I have to balance the food with the staff. With that being said, the all you can eat sushi is a great deal. The staff could be more attentive. The places gets busy for lunch on weekdays. If you like sushi, this might be one of the best deals in town. Besides choosing from rolls, you also can fill up your plate with items from the hot bar. This includes noodles, rice, chicken, crab Rangoon, vegetable tempura, and more! You also have the option to get food from the salad bar. Be prepared to make the most elaborate salad and top it with tasty ginger dressing!

This place is pretty interesting and I'll be coming in again. I wasn't sure what an all you can eat sushi buffet would be like and glad to see the sushi and rolls are made to order, as opposed to there being trays of rubbery mall sushi. The buffet also has traditional American style Chinese food like crab ran goon, general chicken, and fried rice. If you order any sort of drink and plan on tipping, your lunch will be about $20 which isn't too bad for sushi.

I've been here a couple of time with friends. My one friend and I wanted reasonably priced sushi after an event that we went to and found this place to try. We recently came back with another friend for some all you can eat sushi. The fish isn't bad at all. It's cold and seems to be safe to eat. The rolls are really good. They have a few fried rolls, which can be really good. There isn't one stand out roll that they are well known for, most of the rolls are standard with small changes to make the look unique to the store. Our server was really nice and friendly. She was helpful and got my friend his order right away when it was forgotten. She made sure we had drinks and food all in a timely manner. I was very pleased with the service. Will totally come back, when a Cards game isn't going on because parking is nasty when there is a Cards game going on. But, we still will come back.

Pro: If you want quantity over quality, this All-You-Can-Eat option is your place. 2-for-1 beers are there if you're thirsty. Con: I write this not out of malice, but to speak matter-of-factly on the experience. This was not good food. The rice and the fish on a given piece of nigiri should not be just as warm as one another. I'm not sure if someone left a block of tuna out or if I inherited some "certified preowned sushi"; neither option sits well. I like my raw fish with wasabi and soy sauce, not with the thoughts of immediately picking up a foodborne pathogen. Bottom Line: I wish these nice folks nothing but a bounty of improvement and the success that follows. What I do not wish for, though, is a 2nd helping.

I tried Sushi Ai last night. I went for the AYCE but wound up just ordering from the menu because my favorite ones were specialty and unavailable with AYCE. My husband and I thought the rolls were great! We ordered two of the Obama rolls. If you're hungry or want to try a variety of traditional rolls, the value here is hard to beat.

On the day I moved away from Chicago, I cried a little bit. No, not because I was leaving my friends (maybe jus a lil) or the CTA, but because I wouldn't access to any delicious AYCE sushi joints at my fingertips. At last, I have found my go-to AYCE sushi spot in St. Louis! I've been struggling for years to find a halfway decent place for sushi in the city, but I'm proud to say Sushi Ai is just as good as Sushi Para in Chicago. The format is very similar to that of most AYCE sushi restaurants were diners can choose from a variety of rolls and appetizers (all are all you can eat of course). The only downside of the whole deal is that diners will be charged $0.99 for every piece of sushi that is left uneaten so don't get too ambitious! Pace yourself! There are a ton of different rolls, nigiri and appetizers to suit every person's pallet. The gyoza, shumai and chicken yakitori apps are always good. Something unique is that they offer tempura fried sushi rolls which I've never seen as an option on AYCE menus. Definitely something to try out. The best part of all is that on Sundays, it is buy one AYCE and get the second half off!! Apps, nigiri and rolls and fried rolls. The only downside is the ice cream. First of all, it costs $0.99 for three super tiny scoops. Avoid at all costs. If you still have room for ice cream, just head next door to Bailey's Range. Service is always quick and friendly and parking is usually a cinch (street parking).

I stopped in to Sushi Ai for an early lunch while on a trip to St. Louis to explore the food scene. I discovered Sushi Ai by merely walking around and sushi sounded like a good fit. I didn't really order much because I knew I'd be out walking around the city for hours just exploring. I'd also just come from Park Avenue Coffee having Gooey Butter Cake for the first time (yay.) The entrance to Sushi Ai was simple. It didn't advertise itself too much, something reassuring in an urban setting. The interior was dimly lit, despite it being merely midday. It was lunchtime so I found I could get a cheap bundle of options. I ordered a couple standard specialty rolls from the menu and a couple nigiri for good measure. The fish quality was ok. It wasn't rancid or anything, but I'd place it about the same as grocery store sushi in quality. The flavor of the rolls was good, but seemed to reply too much on the accompanying sauces for palate impact. If I was downtown St. Louis again I might stop in if I was nearby. Otherwise, I'd probably seek out another sushi house in the downtown area.

FOOD: Do you (sometimes) like QUANTITY over quality? Then this is your spot! (and mine) You can absolutely stuff yourself full of some pretty decent stuff. They've got it all but not super creative. SERVICE: They're quick to remind you that if you don't eat all your rice, you'll pay extra. That's annoying and presumptuous. Also had the chance to listen to the staff gripe about management in between sushi runs. OF NOTE: The 2 for 1 beers they advertise...they claim to be per person. This is my favorite place to get sushi in St. Louis. The all-you-can-eat for $20 is the way to go. The crab Rangoon is the best I've ever had. My favorite roll is the Crazy spicy crab and the honey roll. After trying out many sushi places in St. Louis I will never go anywhere else, because here you get the best deal- great sushi, great service, and a relaxing atmosphere. I love the sushi ai over in Clayton and tried this one on a groupon. Fortunately, they let me apply it to their amazing $20 all you can't eat sushi deal! Maybe the best price I've ever gotten for good sushi rolls in my life! The server was very friendly and helpful. We always had refills and never had to wave him down to order our next round. When we walked in, my party was ravenously hungry and our appetizers were out in a flash! Love the veggie tempura and ika yaki. Maybe it was the day of the week? Time of year? But the nigiri sushi (cuts of fish) had much less flavor than their clayton location. I adjusted and ordered more rolls, and mackerel, bbq eel, and masago... things with lots of flavor you can't mess up. Looking at the other reviews, the alaskan roll we got also had noticably less salmon than the other location. I can highly recommend the rolls and the price. The service is also better than the Clayton location. For some reason the fresh fish was not the same. Based on other reviews, this could be a bland trend. Definitely still a great place if you like interesting rolls. If you have a small appetite, this place is not for you. If you want a whole meal of maki, this place is fantastic. Way better than grocery store and even better than some sushi bars that just don't know how to do rolls. Try the crazy spicy crab roll, american dream roll(which they make like a dragon roll), and fried St. Louis roll(dessert with honey?). Side note: Rolls are less traditional or Japanese. Everybody has their own opinion on what makes a good roll. Many places aren't creative enough or don't use the right flavors and textures to make good rolls. I enjoy them here (. Some of the best sushi places in the world are on the water and serve no rolls. But we're in St. Louis, so it isn't traditional or the freshest and most expensive cuts of fish anywhere.

I've ordered take-out twice now from Sushi Ai, and both times have been a huge surprise. I've had the Philadelphia, the Rock N Roll, the Maryland, spicy tuna, and spicy scallop and I can't complain about any of them! Huge portions of fish, just the right amount of sticky rice, their sauces are all great, and the flavor balance in each roll is amazing. The atmosphere inside the two level restaurant is pleasing with its contemporary style, plus the green lit sushi bar is in the middle of the place which I thought was both cool to look at and a great idea. I do wish they had chairs or benches in the front for people who ordered take out, or for the line that was out the door when I got there... But now I just sound like a lazy-ass. The only real thing I will criticize is their appetizer, the shrimp shumai. I LOVE shumai, make it at home on the regular, and I swear I'm not being conceited, mine are way better... First off, theirs were literally the size of the tip of my index finger. They looked cute, but that's not really what I was hoping for. Secondly, they were super bland and I could barely even taste any shrimp flavor. Just like mini balls of bland mush with a hint of fish flavor... The sweet soy sauce was good though. That aside, overall their sushi is fantastic, especially for the price, and also for being in St. Louis. I'm looking forward to dining in for the "all you can eat" special.

This place is great, the inside reminds of a Crouching tiger hidden dragon movie, love it. I love the spicy tuna roll, nice and simple. The Halloween roll is a speciality roll, it is beautiful and taste like heaven.

Not your top tier sushi place. Not even your average sushi place. If you are looking for a subpar dinner for cheap go for it! We tried the $19.99 deal with 3 sushi rolls, 4 nigiri, and 1 appetizer. We had the volcano roll, rainbow roll, and the pop up roll. We also had 2 salmon, 1 spicy tuna, and 1 eel nigiri with grilled squid as an appetizer. The sushi looked old and lacked taste. From the rainbow roll, I took off the top slices of fish to taste and it confirmed my original thoughts. The nigiri slices were tiny and lacked the same freshness as the previous sushi. The grilled squid appetizer had 8 pieces the size of nickels. They were chewy and were dressed in a soy sauce based sauce. Only positive note was the service. It was fast and the server was knowledgable about the menu. 2.5 stars overall.

I'm giving this sushi joint two stars instead of one because the service was pleasant and quick. When it comes to sushi, my boyfriend prefers quantity over quality. The reviews here suggested that Sushi Ai was that type of restaurant, so I didn't expect much from the place but at least my boyfriend would be content... Right? NOPE! Even my boyfriend was not satisfied with the sushi. I cannot believe this place has four stars; No matter how cheap it is! What is up with the minced tuna, yellowtail, salmon, etc...? We ordered six different rolls and all of them had minced fish. Unlike what I've read from a couple of reviews here, the rolls are not creative or distinguishable from each other. I've been searching and searching for the go-to sushi joint in St. Louis, but I think I may have to give up. I would have rather spent the 20 bucks on ONE roll at Subzero. Yep. I won't be coming back.

First time I been to an all you can eat sushi and felt it was not worth it. Almost everything that are pictured are not part of the all-you-can-eat menu. The rolls that are included, they give you very little meat and too much rice and really ration thier Wasabi (which by the way is not fresh at all.)

The restaurant was chaotic and messy, not what I would expect from a Japanese restaurant. I think the sushi itself was fantastic, bursting with flavors. The waiter didn't seem thrilled to be serving kids, and wasn't exactly service oriented. All in all, I left with a full stomach and enjoyed the food.

Sushi Ai is in a little cubby in the downtown area. The interior is much bigger though and has the sushi making station in the center. The prices are perfect for sushi and are actually a bit inexpensive! They have a lot of roll options even for the plane-jane sushi eaters like myself. They also have non-sushi items of Japanese kind (tempura, teriyaki chicken, miso soup, etc). My friend and I split a few rolls and were full in no time. Service was quick and friendly. It's a bit out of the way for me, but I would eat here again. They have the added benefit of being open on Mondays which, for whatever reason, isn't super common with sushi places.

Love this place! Great sushi, great appetizers, great prices, what's not to love??? The dinner (lunch isn't as good, smaller selection ) all you can eat is fantastic. It's MADE TO ORDER and again, ALL YOU CAN EAT!!! We had this deal the second time we went and haven't looked back! My husband and I frequent here, usually Sunday nights because it's buy one get one for the all you can eat deal and we walk out spending less than $40 with tip. Not only is this a great deal, to too it off the sushi is great. Favorites are the shrimp dumplings (OMG), volcano roll, mountain roll, and spicy tuna. The tempura vegetables, spring rolls, crab rangoons although on the sweet side and grilled octopus all amazing as well. The sushi ai roll and St. Louis rolls are great but heavy on the cream cheese and very sweet. Cons, if I have to... Udon noodles are good as well, but a overpriced for the small amount you get. Service isn't always 100% but everyone is always so nice it doesn't even matter!

12.99 all you can eat lunch? INSANE. The quality of the sushi here is comparable to Kampai, and the service is warm and attentive. The price is right on point. This would be a great place go for lunch if you're downtown, as you can take advantage of their lunch specials. I wouldn't suggest this place for anything particularly romantic, as the space is a bit overwhelming (feels hollow, probably rarely filled to capacity). So, the ambiance is slightly lacking. But the food is good- the sushi won't astound you with the creativity or anything, but it's definitely good. The 17.99 dinner deal is a steal: 4 pieces of nigiri, 3 rolls, and an appetizer (they even threw in a miso soup!). Ultimately, my prognosis is: go here if you want a feast on a budget!

I'm not into sushi, but this place has many other options that are very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I also like the containers the food come in. They are plastic and you can reuse them if you want. The dining area is extremely well-decorated and roomy.

This place isn't all that different from all of the other AYCE sushi joints. The quality is about the same--mediocre, and they pack on the rice as well to get you fuller faster. The salad bar is just a filler, some plain lettuce with spinach and dressing. Honestly I haven't been to a good AYCE sushi place, but I don't really expect much for the cheap price. The appetizers are just ok as well. The shumai-microwaved and mushy. The grilled squid is too chewy (Kampai makes a really good version of this). One thing I really disliked about the rolls is that alot of them came drenched in that sweet eel sauce. Soaked practically. It was way too sweet and I told them to leave it off for the rest of the order. I have also tried their items off the menu, which is about the same quality, except less rice. Their yaki noodle dishes (stir fried) had a good sauce. Overall, if you are ok with mediocre quality with great quantities, this is your place. If you're not looking to gorge yourself to breakeven, shell out a couple extra bucks and go to Kampai or even Oishi. I left this place, slightly unsatisfied, bloated, and $20 lighter (but about 5 lbs heavier).

Would all the other sushi joints please stand down? The search for good sushi in St. Louis has been like the search for the Holy Grail. I've had a ton of decent sushi around town, but nothing that I would consider great. I don't know if Sushi Ai is necessarily in the great category, but it undoubtedly gets five stars on value alone. My pops did me another solid with a $25 gift certificate for the downtown location, which isn't listed on the website. I didn't rush to use it because I didn't figure that I would get by so cheaply. With tip, I assumed that I would still spend around $30. I was wrong. Sushi Ai offers a buffet special, not sure on the timeframe but I would imagine lunch only. For $12.99, you get to choose from a limited but fairly large selection of sushi pieces and rolls. The buffet also includes salad bar, miso soup, and assorted appetizers. The only hitch is that you must finish your sushi, within a few pieces, or you will be charged for anything extra. I had several questions for our waitress, and despite the language barrier, she made it pretty understandable. She gave us a sheet to fill out for our first round, and we both went to town. After the $25 voucher, I spent $6.98 before tip. Here's what we got, minus the soft drinks: 2 Miso Soups $3.00 Honey Roll $5.95 Spicy Crab Roll $4.95 Yamasa Roll $5.25 Eel Roll $4.95 Philadelphia Roll $5.25 American Dream Roll $6.25 Cream Cheese Roll $4.95 2 Eel $5.10 Crab $1.95 Masago $2.50 Total: $50.10! So for $25.98, we had an extraordinary sushi feast! Now most people probably can't throw down like us, but it's obvious that this buffet is quite a value. Not every roll was amazing, but there were some highlights. If you liked fried rolls, the Philadelphia Roll is pretty nice. Other standouts include the Honey Roll and American Dream Roll. Those with a palate for heat might enjoy the Spicy Crab Roll. Sushi Ai has locations in St. Louis County, St. Charles County, and Illinois, so I definitely suggest checking one of these places out if you like sushi and can never get enough!

I've become a regular at Sushi Ai. It's so close to where I live, and you just can't beat the "all you can eat" dinner special for less than $20. Honestly, it's not the best sushi in town. The quality doesn't seem to be consistent, but I've found a few rolls that I really enjoy. If you are in the mood for sashimi, then I'd suggest skipping this place. If quantity at a low price is your objective, then you've hit the jackpot. Probably my favorite roll here is the volcano roll with spicy tuna, salmon and yellow tail which is chopped up and mixed with the right amount of spice to fire it up. Similar to a spicy tuna roll, this option always tastes better. On occasion, I've found the tuna to not taste so fresh, yet other times it's very fresh. Even spicier than the volcano roll is the jalapeno roll with a slice of extra hot jalapeno on each piece. Prepare for some burn if you get this one. If I remember correctly, my least favorite roll was the Boston roll. Filled with lettuce and a few other things that I can't remember, it lacked in any flavor. In addition to the rolls, I've tried a variety the sashimi, but as I said, this place is hit or miss with freshness. The chicken teriyaki is also average at best. I'll be returning often for the good prices and convenient location.

Be prepared to stuff yourself with large balls of flavorless hard rice. Came here for the all you can eat. The nigiri had a rice-to-fish ratio of infinity to 0. The fish was sliced extremely thin that it's almost transparent. You can also tell that they use a crappy dull knife because the texture of the fish is completely ruined. And then there's that giant boring ball of rice. Good luck with that. The sushi rolls are more tolerable since it's drenched in sauces. Also, if you don't finish your food, you get charged. All 15 of us left feeling bloated and disgusted.

The lunch experience was highly confusing. The menu says something like "all you can eat, and eat all you like but we charge you for what you don't eat". Me and my friend were like "What?". The "all you can eat" buffet includes two made to order sushi rolls, an appetizer, and two pieces of sushi in addition to a trip to the buffet. We both had one small plate from the buffet and we didn't finish our sushi rolls so we asked for a to-go box and the waiter told us that we can't have a to-go box and that we would be charged for what we didn't finish. Again, extremely confusing. Eventually the manager stepped in and offered us to-go boxes and apologized which is why I'm giving four stars instead of zero. I get the idea behind what they're thinking but this is a little different, it's not like we took a bunch of food off the buffet and wanted it to go. The sushi is pre-portioned and made to order. P.s. The honey roll was delicious.

Friendly staff that know you after just a few visits. Sushi is good and the value is amazing. Try coming here for lunch during the week and enjoy a hot buffet in addition to the sushi. My wife and I come here several times a month for our sushi fix and are never disappointed.

Just ordered delivery through their Yelp app..pretty uhmazing food and really fast delivery. It was really easy to order. Order their Hibachi items..their Lo mein and Fried rice were the best I've ever had. Pretty awesome you can get sushi at your house in less than 20 min. My kids loved the tempura also..not greasy at all. Order from them now..you won't be disappointed.

This place is one of our go-to lunch spots downtown. For about the same price as going to any other sushi restaurant, you have access to unlimited sushi (make sure you finish your plate so you don't get charged a supplement for the leftover pieces), access to a salad bar, a hot food bar, and various appetizers. While this might not be the best sushi you've ever had, the price is reasonable for what you eat (if you're like me, it's a great deal!), and service is pretty on point.

Best. Lunch. Ever. Okay, so I had heard about this place through my fiance prior to visiting STL this time around, and I was mildly excited to try it after he told me it was all you can eat (AYCE) sushi. I've had AYCE sushi before, and it was cool, but not super special - and definitely not as nice as going to a sushi joint and ordering cool rolls and stuff. So today at Sushi Ai, we got into the restaurant around 11:20am and were seated immediately. They give your table about 5 paper slips with all of the items you can order for the AYCE lunch (and, it includes the hot bar - which is more chinesey stuff that is panda express-esque and kind of confusing since this is supposed to be a japanese place but whatever) and pens to mark how much of each thing you want. On that paper, there are things like sashimi, sushi rolls, and some random appetizers. It's cool because you get the experience of ordering sushi fresh from a bar - and it IS made fresh right after you order; but you can order as many as you want! And each time you fill out a paper to place your order, they take it and complete your order. Brilliant. You can either order as a table and eat family style, or do individual orders. I suggest family style, because a lot of the rolls are 6 or 8 pieces, and it's a lot more fun to share it and you can try more rolls if you do it that way. Note: the sashimi/raw fish ones are only one piece, so when you put one, you only get one. I will say that the quality of the rolls and fish are not top quality (I'm used to nice fresh sushi made by real Japanese people in Southern California), but for the low price of $12.99... it is an awesome deal. The service was pretty good for a lunchtime meal for 4, too! Today, after we finished our first big order, we decided to order a second round of sushi, but I would do it differently next time - our hunger was waning as we waited for the second round. And then the third round. I would go off of what we liked from the first order halfway through eating it, and put in the second order so it would arrive right when we finish the first. The spicy tuna roll was awesome - get it! We got 3 of those! Also, you will be charged for any remaining rice or fish, so make sure you eat everything (and make sure you can handle the amount that you order).

As a frequent customer of Sushi Ai, I can't believe I didn't get on yelp to review them sooner! The $20 all you can eat sushi deal is amazing. They have a variety of rolls, single sushi pieces and appetizers to choose from. I take advantage of this deal at least twice a week for dinner or lunch and I am never disappointed. Some of my personal favorites are as follows: vegetable tempora as an appetizer, the tuna and yellowfin tuna pieces and the vegetable, mountain and christmas rolls. The waitstaff has always been very friendly, helpful and professionally welcoming. They are quick to bring out your correct order and are always helpful in reminding students of their available student discount, which can be applied to this already amazing dinner deal.

Wanted to try takaya off wash ave but closes so found this place. VERY crowded and under staff. Our waitress did great tho for how busy she was. Rolls are very simple and basic I wouldn't say bad but I've definitely have had a lot better. Dined at drunken fish and mizu often and wanted to try something new This place is last on my list. Cheap tho the have a all you can eat special but don't order more than you can eat because you will be charged for it. A friend discovered this place last summer. He convinced a group of us to go here after class, for their 12.99 lunch special all-you-can-eat. Depending on how much you can eat, the price is definitely worth it. An order of 4 rolls and 2 appetizers definitely sets you back over 13 dollars. However the sushi is not exactly the best, nor fresh, and to me, every roll seems to taste the same. I'm most likely biased from the sushi joints back home in California. This same friend is ecstatic about the place; he always raves about coming back here for their all-you-can-eat. After a while however, I begin to diverge from their buffet menu and order from their normal one. Glancing past their sushi and rolls off their regular menu, Sushi Ai has a satisfactory selection of bento boxes and side dishes. While this place advertises serving Japanese food, the workers and selection of music playing overheard begs to differ. The whole environment is a mix of Chinese and a little Japanese. Their Orange Chicken (??), Teriyaki Beef and Chicken all do not have any resemblance to true Japanese food. In a way, the food tastes rather dull and not worth the $10+ price. I've since been here at least 10 times. Sometimes my friends drag me along for the sushi but I've found the quality and service to be inconsistent. Sometimes the rolls taste fresh, whereas sometimes it's obvious that the ingredients have been sitting out for a while. Moreover, the first couple of times I came here, there was this one particular waiter that lingered awkwardly over us, and objectively cut in to ask if we needed more water. At the end, he even stopped us before we went out the door asking for a tip. The hell? However it seems that Sushi Ai has let that particular waiter go and their service has seen been improved. The atmosphere is average, nothing too special. My friends and I are always seated at the same exact table. Nothing to really complain about though. After passing over their all-you-can-eat menu, I have found the Shrimp Tempura Dinner specialty to be the best thing for me. The order comes with 6 generous pieces of shrimp tempura, along with 4 pieces of potato, broccoli, and cucumber. The batter is nice and crunchy, the sauce is sweet. It is also served with a side of miso soup and sub-par tasting ginger sauced salad. Overall, Sushi Ai is ok. They do have a 10% discount for students of neighboring schools such as Wash U, STLCOP, and SLU. It basically waives out the price of tax. After coming here a number of times, each visit seems to be more and more drawn out. I know that I am spoiled by the taste and delicacy of California sushi/Japanese food. Coming to Sushi Ai makes me reminiscence of better and cheaper food elsewhere.

Went here on a Sunday as it was the only sushi place within walking distance to us at our hotel that was still open, plus it had a 4 star rating. I have to disagree with what seems like the majority of my fellow yelpers....this place was not that great. Sure its dirt cheap for AYCE sushi (on Sundays it is BOGO half off, so we spent $30 for 2 people). But I've had much better. I'm not even from California. The rolls were pretty tiny (you could always just order more I guess, but these seemed pretty small). The selection was just ok. It seemed like all the rolls were basically the same. One item on the menu was spicy tuna, crunchy, topped with tobiko...in addition to a spicy tuna roll and what seemed like 3-4 slight variations on the same thing. 3 stars because it is cheap, the fish was fine, but this place is pretty average.

waitress was on it, greeted us when we walked in and made sure that any questions we had were addressed about the menu. She very attentive to our needs as well as others. the food itself was very good. I'm not quite sure about what the bad reviews were about but considering that restaurant is in the Missouri, the quality and quantity is above par. I'm from Hawaii and I think the quality was good... so i think that's worth mentioning. I like good food and raw fish that doesn't give me tummy aches (by the way, it's 1:41am not and my belly is far from any soreness. We tried the rainbow, the volcano, and the popup roll for $17.99. This also included 4 pieces of sashimi and an appetizer. For this price the portions are smaller than the specialty rolls BUT it was more than enough for myself and the hubby. My favorite of the three rolls was the volcano since i'm big on spicy ahi. My hubby liked the rainbow roll (i did too! it was delicious). The popup roll wasn't for us so next time we'll try something else..maybe something with eel. My favorite thing about the rolls were that the rice was a good portion. It was just a little bit of rice to enjoy the rolls without having all the unnecessary carbs. The appetizer and sashimi were also delightful. We choose the vegetable tempura and tuna & pepper tuna. I always eat the tempura since i'm a "fried food" person. It was just the right amount of vegetable cut in this slices so it was soft on the inside and crispy out. The pepper tuna was my husbands favorite. I think he liked it a lot cause to me it was like a smoked-type taste. Overall, i would come here again. Sushi was decent, maybe a bit expensive for dinner. The rolls were nice, and everything very fresh. Was surprised to not find chirashi on the menu (typical go-to) and most of the roll options seemed to feature cooked options. Service was quick and very friendly.

I enjoyed the food but was confused... Is this place not a sushi place? Do they not have Sushi Chefs? Ok, well you can't have sashimi...even though you would just cut the fish and instead of putting it on the rice roll you would just put it on the plate. I like to enjoy the flavor of the fish..I don't need everything deep fried and battered.

I ordered (I was starving... don't judge): ~ Tako Su - octopus & avocado rolled in thinly sliced cucumber - delicious! ~ Spicy tuna handroll - very good & a very generous amount of spicy tuna ~ Spicy salmon roll - salmon tastes fresh & the roll is simple yet yummy My server was very nice and attentive. There are 2 levels to this restaurant. I'm not sure about parking bc I walked here from my hotel.

So happy this place opened downtown. The staff is incredibly helpful, it makes you just want to swim right in. The sushi is fresh, and for lunch, at $12.99 -- I don't think there is much better of a deal in downtown StL.

This place is fine for the price. Some of their rolls are decent but some are pretty bland. Sushi Ai is very convenient to me so I made several trips before I found rolls I actually enjoyed. So the gist? You get what you pay for: okay sushi for a fair price.

As a Southern Calfornian, I came here not expecting too much, but my experience here was horrible. I'm familiar with sushi restaurants trying to limit the amount of sushi that is consumed by customers by using a large amount of rice as the base. However, Sushi Ai makes it blatantly obvious. Each tightly packed block of rice was around 2 inches long 1 inch wide and 1 inch tall. What other choice is there but to take some of the rice out to save my appetite. I tried speaking with the manager but she tells me that this is the usual amount. I feel horrible for the customers that have been cheated by coming here. Do not come here for nigiri let alone sushi.

This hidden little gem offers good sushi downtown. And the prices are reasonable. We tried the Yummy, Halloween, and Supersonic roll. They were all good. I'd rate the Yummy as the best. The Supersonic was supposed to be spicy, but I didn't find it spicy at all. The ambiance is neat. They have local artist paintings all over the walls for purchase. There is an upstairs but I doubt they ever seat tables up there. Service is prompt and courteous. They have a lunch/dinner all-you-can eat option for $13/$20 which seemed very cheap considering the quality. But we just ordered off the regular menu.
